Hello everyone! My name is Sarah Greer, I am the residential life coordinator at AIA. I joined the AIA team in August and since then have been enjoying getting to know the students and staff members. Before I came to AIA I graduated from Michigan State University. I also spent some time working in residence life at my university and through Duke University, in addition to tutoring English as a second language.
This year we have started a new residence life program, which focuses on not only supervision in the residence halls but improving the lives of the students through clubs, activities, and events. Our structure is based off of the American high school and university structure, which prioritizes time for student creative and community building.
This year we have thrown a glow party, a Halloween party, and soon we will be having our first Christmas dinner. The students also have started clubs where they are able to learn how to work and learn as a group. We have theatre, music, animation, video making, and yearbook club. As our school and club system grows we hope to add more clubs.
Throughout the year we want to make changes that will foster a school community and improve student wellbeing. We recently hired a new residence life staff member who is coming from America next week. She has many years of experience working in an American college and together we hope to create more activities that will prepare the students socially and emotionally for college and life abroad.
